Our Story

From Calabria to
Chicago With a Dream

Over five decades ago, a young man arrived from Southern Italy with nothing but his hands, his mother's recipes, and a belief that food made with heart could build a home anywhere.

The Beginning

One Man. One Oven. One Dream.

51 years ago, Jack left the sun-soaked hills of Calabria, Italy with little more than the clothes on his back and the recipes his mother had whispered to him since childhood. He arrived in America with a pocketful of hope and a work ethic forged in the old country — where nothing was given and everything was earned.

He didn't speak the language. He didn't have savings. But he knew dough. He knew sauce. And he knew that the way to a community's heart was through an honest meal made from scratch.

Jack opened the doors to Gioacchino's Pizza with nothing but a brick oven, a few tables, and a promise: every guest would leave fuller and happier than they arrived. That was over five decades ago. That promise still stands today.

A Family Affair

Three Generations. One Kitchen.

What Jack started as a one-man operation quickly became a family calling. His wife stood beside him at the counter, greeting every customer by name. Their children learned to stretch dough before they learned to drive. Today, you'll find grandchildren working the same ovens Jack fired up in those early years.

This isn't a franchise. There are no shareholders. Just a family that believes a pizza place should feel like an extension of your own dining room. The recipes haven't changed. The dough is still mixed by hand each morning. The sauce still simmers for hours the way Jack's mother taught him in that small Calabrian kitchen half a century ago.

When you walk through our doors, you're not just a customer — you're part of the story Jack started 51 years ago. And we're still writing it together, one slice at a time.
